#10246 Wings Over The Mountains of Life

Ridiculous
=======
Mike Hutchins was a computer programming genius. He helped me
to write two computer programs that I sold early in my business
career.
I had a brand new state-of-the-art Dell notebook computer with a
color screen. "All notebooks have color screens," you say. Well,
they didn't then, most were black and white. My Dell color
screen notebook cost $4,000.00. I paid only a fraction of that
but that's another story involving the FBI.
My notebook had the largest harddrive available. It was a
whopping 120MB (megabytes). My desktop only had a 40MB harddrive.
Mike Hutchins told my brother and I that he was planning to buy
another hard drive. "I'm getting a gigabyte drive," he said.
James and I looked at each other with a raised eyebrow.
"What could a person do with a whole gigabyte (GB) drive," we
asked later. That was just ridiculous. A gigabyte is 1,000MB.
That was over eight times the size of my super notebook and 25
times the size of my desktop. It was just ridiculous.
Mike was ahead of his time.
I've got to go now and answer my phone which has 40GB of memory.
Ridiculous.
