Just A Plowhand
===========

I'm just a plowhand from Arkansas,
but I have learned how to hold a team together.
How to lift some men up, how to calm down others, until finally
they've got one heartbeat together, a team.

There's just three things I'd ever say:

If anything goes bad, I did it.
If anything goes semi-good, then we did it.
If anything goes real good, then you did it.

That's all it takes to get people to win football games for you.
~Paul 'Bear' Bryant, famous college football coach~

Bryant coached at Alabama for 25 years, winning six national
titles and thirteen SEC championships.

Bryant announced his retirement as head football coach at Alabama
effective with the end of the 1982 season. When asked in a
post-game interview what he intended to do while retired, Bryant
sarcastically replied that he would "probably croak in a week."

Bryant died on January 26, 1983 at age 69 after checking into
Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa with chest pain.

His death came 28 days after his last game as a coach.

His words were powerful, just as yours are.
