#8253 Wings Over The Mountains of Life

The Essay
=======
To: Miss Williams
Yesterday, on Friday, everyone just wanted to go home.
We had been tested all week with the End Of Grade (EOG's).
Teachers, as well as students, were worn and wanted to hang out.
But on Friday it was back to work.
In math my brain was warped, and I didn't know what I was doing.
In Science, we had 30 definitions to copy and 10 questions to
answer.
Then in Language Arts, Miss Williams had us write a 2-page
essay. It had to be about who influenced us most in our lives.
You should have heard the groans!!!!!!
And statements like "does the term cruel and unusual punishment
mean anything to you?" or "there's a fine line between strict
and crazy, guess who's flirting with it?"
I wrote about my mom. I was proud of it.
It’s where I got my determination, self-reliance, and the will
to be a Christian.
Afterwards, of course it's like James to say this, but he asked
"Well, did you have to do this when you were little?"
"No," my teacher replied, "but I wish I had."
"Why?" everyone asked, almost in unison.
"Because my mother was murdered when I was in high-school,"
"You don't realize how precious life really is," she said.
I was surprised, without what she said, the essay had already
touched me because I love my mom, but that got everyone quiet.
It's never too late to tell someone how you feel, but don't be
blinded by ignorance, because you never know what will happen.
